God is Near

A year ago, PCJH’s Music & Worship Director Kenny Hadden was moved to write and compose a song based on Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:25-34. Inspired by this past Sunday’s sermon, The Freedom of Simplicity, in which Pastor Ben preached on these same beautiful verses, he’s releasing the song today. Allow the comfort and peace of the Lord’s presence to wash over you as you listen.

God Is Near

by Kenny Hadden, based on Matthew 6:25-34

I won’t worry for God is near
And when all these things around me disappear
God will clothe me like the lilies of the field
And I’ll find in Him my refuge and be still

I won’t labor and I won’t spin
‘Cause I’ve been around and I’ll come around again
But on this world of trouble, the sun won’t fail to rise
So I’ll keep my face turned toward the lightning sky

Chorus:
And I’ll seek first His way
And I’ll live out His will from day to day
Others they might fear, and build their walls around them
But I won’t worry for God is near

There’s so much suffering around me now
We say we believe love overcomes somehow
But every flower withers and they ain’t done no wrong
So I’ll leave it all to God, and God alone

Chorus

Bridge:
The birds of the air don’t store away in barns
But in their hearts prepare to receive God’s loving arms
The hour may grow dark, the song is hard to hear
But I won’t be afraid for I know God is near

I won’t worry for God is near
And when all these things around me disappear
God will clothe me like the lilies of the field
And I’ll find in Him my refuge… and be still

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” ~ Matthew 6:25-27
