Rummage Sale Reaches New Heights!

By Irene Lund and Nancy Brumsted

This year’s PCJH RUMMAGE SALE, held on June 9th , was a shining success! We had a variety of high-quality donations, great volunteers, and a steady stream of shoppers. We were able to reach out to 15 charities with items that were remaining.

Over sixty volunteers listed below, helped to make this rummage sale a success, and we want to thank every person who set aside time and energy for this event. We had folks who invited their friends and colleagues to volunteer, and everyone worked together to make it all happen. We had fun times filled with hard work and fellowship. The love and grace of God was obvious throughout the entire preparation and day of the sale.

One of the highlights of the sale is to invite families referred to us by ONE 22 to shop on Friday night. There were 8 families who shopped, including a man who just moved into his Habitat for Humanity house and was very excited to get items for his first home. A young woman brought her young daughter to shop, and she chose warm blankets and flannel sheets since she was often cold, and these items were very appreciated.

Proceeds from this year’s sale came to over $10,000.00. The charities receiving additional items included:

  • One 22
  • Community Safety Network
  • Red Top Meadows
  • Turning Point
  • Head Start
  • Visions Without Borders
  • Sweet Spirit Children
  • Mexican Ministry in Blackfoot
  • Climb Wyoming
  • The Literacy Center
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop in Idaho Falls
  • Deseret Industries in Idaho Falls
  • Community Bible Church (for their rummage sale the following week)
  • Good Samaritan Mission

THANK YOU to our wonderful volunteers who generously donated time and effort to this cause. We also want to give a special shout-out to our faithful rummage sale coordinators, Irene Lund and Diane Nichols. Irene said it for so many: “The sale is always a fun service project and a happy day.”
