On behalf of our year round staff, thank you for your interest in summer ministry opportunities at JOY Summer Camp.
Working at JOY may be the most challenging, most exhausting and most meaningful job you’ll ever have. And probably the most fun too! Each summer around 20 adults and young adults come together to serve approximately 150-200 campers for a 10-week period. Our goal is to help campers grow in skills, relationships and faith!
Staff roles are diverse, just like the staff personalities and temperaments we hire. One very unique and wonderful thing about JOY Summer Camp’s staffing, however, is that every single staff member will have opportunities to interact with and supervise campers. From group counselors to support staff, or our program team all staff members will receive training and support to do this part of their job well.
Staff are selected based on Christian maturity, experience working with children, communication skills, and zest for life. We purposefully hire a diversity of temperaments, talents, and backgrounds to create a balanced and healthy staff family. Length of service ranges from 10-11 weeks depending on a staff member’s role. Priority is given to staff who can work the entirety of our summer program.
Who will we be serving? JOY campers range in age from 3 to 11. Campers come from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Staff working with the 3-5 year olds will experience a slightly different program than staff working with the 1-6th graders. This is intentional in order to accommodate the different needs of each age group.
Before you apply, please review the JOY Staff Expectations page, as we commit to a high standard of community life throughout all our programs.
