An Update On Our Ministry
by Susan Conner, PCJH Deacon
The PCJH deacons held their first meeting of the year in January and welcomed new deacons Lori Dodd, Ed Scott, Jim Byrne, Joy Steiner, Brad Herman and Ryan Allen. They each bring enthusiasm, experience, and a heart for service to the Lord, and I know they will richly bless the deacon ministry at PCJH!
The deacons are very grateful for the support we received from our congregation for the food drive and Totes of Hope Christmas project during the holiday season. We were able to donate close to 100 bags of groceries to the food pantry at the Good Samaritan Mission, and we also provided hats and waterproof mittens for 40 children who participate in Head Start in Jackson. What a joy it was to be able to attend the Christmas party at the mission and present the gifts to the children on behalf of our church. Thank you, PCJH family!
As the deacon ministry continues the grow into our service team model, in which each deacon serves a specific ministry team – hospitality, meals, prayer, visitation, ect. – it is our hope that this structure be a means through which our entire congregation is able to share gifts and talents in service to one another, and our community. Expect more information about this in the next few weeks!
Please be in prayer for our deacons as we seek God’s guidance and purpose in this new year.
“The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” ~ Lamentations 3:22-23.
