God is Good, and Children are Precious

by Amanda Lack, Little Lambs Preschool Director

School has begun! Even though there are some changes in what school looks like this year, the wonderful staff team at Little Lambs Preschool is so excited to welcome all of our new and returning friends back for another great year!

During the first week of school we have gotten to know each other better, since we’ll be together all year like a little family.  One of the things we like to emphasize at Little Lambs is that every person is unique and special and has their own ideas and opinions, which is okay. We talk about how it’d be boring if everyone were the exact same and we love celebrating each other in our own uniqueness. (This stems from Psalm 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”) These new friendships are reflected by a collaborative piece we call “friendship art”. The children in each class contribute to the piece, name it and then it’s proudly hung in their classroom to remind them that it’s good to do things together as a team!

We’ve also taken the opportunity to do some exploring around the PCJH campus. Kids naturally have a love of learning and it’s even more fun for preschool age children when you keep it open ended. We took our magnifying glasses and did a walk-about. The only criteria for our hunt was to “find things that are interesting” and then discuss why you think so; This resulted in a variety of discoveries like wild mushrooms growing in the ground, sparkly flowers in the sunlight, bugs under rocks, the veins inside of leaves that we don’t normally pay attention to and details of a fire hydrant. We love the fresh air and are certainly taking advantage of the beautiful weather.

God is good and children are precious. No matter what is going on around us, the Little Lambs team is determined to make this school year a great one! There’s opportunity for growth everywhere you look and we’re excited for all that is in store for us this new school year.
