The Wilderness Ministry at PCJH invites individuals and families to experience life together with God and others through the awe-inspiring beauty of Jackson Hole. Rooted in Christ, this ministry uses outdoor adventures as an outreach to deepen faith, build community,
and experience the joy of God’s creation and presence.
Registration required for all events. Suggested donation of $10 per participant per event to help fund the purchase of equipment, leader training, and other program needs.

Cross Country Skiing

Sunday January 18th, is the XC kick off with 6 total sessions. The XC program is a 1 to 2 hour outings at quiet locations around the valley followed by an après ski gathering afterwards. Locations and more info to come...

Backcountry Skiing 101
Saturday, January 17th

Learn the basics of backcountry skiing! This hands-on introduction is perfect for anyone curious about learning about traveling safely and efficiently through backcountry ski terrain. Together, we’ll practice essential skills such as applying climbing skins and preparing gear, uphill travel techniques, and transitioning from uphill to downhill
Intended Audience: Beginner backcountry skiers (ages 10+)
Difficulty: Beginner, no previous backcountry experience is required, though participants should be comfortable skiing blue runs at resorts.

Winter Wonderland Exploration

Time: 9:30am - 11:30 (optional lunch together afterwards)
Location: Teton Science School, Kelly Campus
Join us for time in God’s creation as we explore the landscape through the eyes of a “naturalist!” Perfect for anyone curious about looking more closely at our JH winter wonderland and learning from experienced outdoor educators.
Gear Required: Snowshoes & Big 5
Difficulty: Beginner; some snowshoeing experience would be ideal.

Full Moon Snowshoe & Ski

Location - Taggart Lake Trailhead Parking Lot
Join Pastor Ben for a full moon snowshoe/cross country ski outing. Gather in Grand Teton National Park at the at the Bradley/Taggart parking lot at sunset, then head out on the inner park road on snowshoes or skis to enjoy the full moon.

Skiing the Skyline
March 7th
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Location: Skyline Drive to Elkhart Park, Pinedale, WY
Activity Description: Join us for a day in God’s creation as we explore the beautiful Elkhart Park Trail with sweeping views of the Wind River Mountains. We’ll gather for a late-afternoon lunch at a local restaurant in Pinedale to warm up and connect over a meal.
Gear Required: Cross-country skis, poles, books, warm layered clothing, hat, gloves, snacks, and water
Intended Audience: Adults (18 +) who have previous Nordic ski experience
Difficulty: Moderate
