Can you believe that JOY Camp has reached its halfway point this summer? We are so thankful for an incredible JOY staff that has kept camp running smoothly and has been full of energy, enthusiasm, and, well, joy while serving God in this unique ministry!
We’re continuing the “Meet JOY!” series with a spotlight on 3 more counselors. Meet Alaska, Vine, and Mama Llama below!
Hi! I’m Jessie, also known as Alaska, and this is my first summer working with the middle schoolers in Teton Explorers. It’s been so much fun going on hikes, having lakes days, and playing tons of 4 square with them. I was born and raised in Hawaii, but I spent the last few years in Pennsylvania at Villanova University. In a few weeks I’ll be moving to San Diego to pursue my master’s degree in clinical counseling/marriage and family therapy, but I feel so blessed to be spending my summer in Wyoming and serving this community!
Hi everyone! My name is Carly Gammel, aka Vine, and I have been a rotator for Camp Joy this summer! I have done a little bit of everything: counseling, leading activities, and even dressing up to do a few skits. 🙂 I love camp so much and it has been such a privilege to get to play and have fun with these kids! A few fun facts: I’m from San Diego California, I am going into my senior year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I love the movie Shrek, and I have really tiny thumbs!
Hi, I’m Heather (Mama Llama at camp), and I’ve been working at JOY Summer Camp for 5 summers now! This summer I took on a new role as the leader of Teton Explorers, which is the Middle School program. It has been such a blessing to witness these kids grow throughout the years and I myself have grown so much being a part of this program. JOY Summer Camp is initially what got me plugged into PCJH and now I consider it my home and have just been extremely blessed to be a part of this church.
Continue lifting up these ladies, and the whole JOY staff, in your prayers as they continue to navigate this unpredictable summer with dedication and grace!
