A Blessing for All

2019 Rummage Sale Wrap Up

This year’s Annual Rummage Sale was a true blessing for all. We raised $9,000 and distributed items before, during, and after the sale to 12 nonprofits. Our biggest benefactor after the sale was the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, which accepted most of what we could not sell during the short four-hour event. We were also able to distribute children’s clothing and kitchenware to the Wind River Indian Reservation. Vision Beyond Borders also received clothing to be distributed to the very needy abroad as well.

Thank you to the many who worked either a few or many hours setting up the sale, and to those who brought culinary skills via lunches for the volunteers, which were so delightful each day! Without the donors and shoppers this community event would never have happened. Thank you all.

A special thank you to DELCON for lending us two trailers for an entire month to collect donations, and for their driver’s time, moving the trailers to the church and to the Fair Grounds.

Thank you also to Garth & Christy Gillespie, who leant us their truck once again for pick up and deliver donations. Thank you to Westbank Sanitation for providing us with a dumpster for the week of the sale. Thank you to Azadi Rugs, who helped us appraise a rug – a big help to our pricing team!

Anonymous, thank you! You underwrote a large part of our fee charged by the Fair Grounds for the use of the building for the five days it takes to set up and complete our sale.

Here’s a highlight we want to share with you – a lady affected by the Bondurant fire was the first in line at 7 a.m. Saturday morning. She purchased a beautiful leather sofa and side chair, which she said reminded her so much of the one she lost in the fire.

This sale is such an opportunity for us to connect with one another and also to the community. Our volunteers help to lift the load; they also become our best friends.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” ~ Matthew 6:19-20a, 21
