Children’s Ministry Update

Dear PCJH Parents of Children K-5,

I hope this email finds you and your family well.  As you know we have been searching for a Children’s Ministry Coordinator since February.  We are still searching.

Aaron Nydam originally committed through the beginning of June to be our interim Children’s Ministry Coordinator.  He has graciously and enthusiastically agreed to stay and lead JOY Summer Camp this summer.  Praise God and thank you Aaron!

However, this means we no longer have someone to coordinate our Sunday School ministry.

Therefore, we will be taking a break from Sunday School this summer as we work to revitalize and regroup our Sunday School program staff, vision, and volunteers to relaunch in September.  Children K-5 will be expected to stay in worship with their parents this summer.  We will provide coloring sheets in the sanctuary to give children an activity to engage them during the sermon, if needed.  Please take this opportunity to enjoy worship together as a family.

We will be hosting a meeting for parents and PCJH members this Sunday, June 12th at 4:00pm in the chapel to seek your input, questions, concerns, and ideas.  We need our parents of children AND other members of this congregation to help us rebuild our Sunday School program post-covid.

We believe this summer will give us an opportunity to take a deep breath, regroup for the Fall, and get back to our legacy of leading an excellent Children’s Sunday School experience.

In the meantime, we are looking into the possibility of breaking up the Children’s Ministry Coordinator position into various part-time roles to see if there are people interested in serving in this way since no one has come forward for the full-time position.  Therefore, we will begin searching for a part-time Sunday School coordinator(s) immediately.

In addition, we are also searching for a part-time Nursery Caregiver(s) to replace Darla Jackson who will be moving to Colorado at the end of June.

We WILL continue providing nursery care this summer for children 0-5 years old as long as we can find staff or volunteers.

Please keep our Children’s Ministry in your prayers as we navigate this transition.  We definitely need more people to serve in our Children’s Ministry so if you have any interest whatsoever as a part-time staff person or volunteer or member of our Children’s Ministry Advisory Team, we would be truly grateful for your leadership and service.

We serve a faithful God who loves our children even more than we do, so we move forward in confidence that God will provide and guide us as we take our next steps in faith.

Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  -Jesus (Mark 10:14)

In Christ,

Ben Pascal
