Letter to the Congregation: County Mask Mandate

Letter to the PCJH Congregation
August 27, 2021

As you probably already know, the Teton County Health Department has announced a mask mandate countywide.  Therefore, PCJH is asking that people attending worship or other indoor gatherings at the church wear a mask.

Did you know that Jesus gave us an even more important mandate?  We remember Jesus’ mandate on Maundy Thursday every year.  The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin word “Mandatum” which is where we get the English word “mandate”.  Jesus said, “A new mandate I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” -John 13:34-35

For the sake of Christian unity in the midst of our diversity of perspectives and concerns, we acknowledge that we all have different opinions of what is best for ourselves and our families when it comes to COVID.  Our hope is that however you decide to navigate this pandemic, that you do it with the love of Jesus.

Thank you for loving one another during another challenging time.  I am so grateful for this congregation and your gracious way of being.
